Jeremy Blair Biography
Jeremy Blair is a choreographer, performer, and teacher based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jeremy received an MFA in choreography from the University of Iowa, a BA in theatre from Millikin University, and is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Jeremy has performed with Thodos Dance Chicago, Lucky Plush Productions, Chicago Moving Company, Khecari Dance Theatre, Aerial Dance Chicago, and Lookingglass Theatre in Chicago, and with Friches Theatre Urbaine in Paris. His performance work includes performing choreography by Bob Fosse, Lar Lubovitch, Lucas Crandall, Ann Reinking, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, and Jennifer Muller, among others.
His choreography explores the politics of gender in a variety of forms including concert dance, solo work, and musical theatre choreography. His work blends dance genres and artistic disciplines, and he seeks out collaboration with other artists. His choreography has been presented at Jacob’s Pillow, City Center, Gibney, Harris Theatre, and other venues throughout the United States.
Jeremy currently is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Western Michigan University. He specializes in jazz and modern technique, composition, music for dance, and critical dance theory. He has published scholarship on music copyright in dance and is collaborating with Lindsay Fisher Viatori on forthcoming jazz dance pedagogy research.
